Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge
Description
Playa Nicuesa is accessible only by boat, a 30-minute crossing from Golfito across the Golfo Dulce. That single fact defines the experience. There is no walking away, no nipping out, no reason to check anything. You arrive by water and the daily rhythm becomes the tides, the wildlife, and the open-air restaurant cantilevered into the rainforest canopy.
The lodge sits on 165 acres of private preserve within the Piedras Blancas National Park. All meals are included by necessity and by design and the kitchen works with seasonal produce, freshly caught seafood, and whatever is growing in the garden. With a maximum of 25 guests at any time, the atmosphere is closer to a very particular house party than a hotel. Guides are local, the beach is steps from every cabin, and WiFi, to put it charitably, is patchy.
