Lapa Rios Lodge
Description
Lapa Rios sits within a 1,000-acre private rainforest reserve on the Osa Peninsula, one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth. The lodge was conceived as a model for sustainable ecotourism — 220 solar panels, nano hydro-turbines, and a farm-to-table restaurant powered entirely by the surrounding land. The bungalows and suites open directly onto the forest canopy, with screened walls, outdoor rain showers, and wraparound decks designed to dissolve the boundary between room and jungle. On one side, the Pacific. On the other, Corcovado. The nearest town is only accessible by dirt road, and that’s by design.
Programmes here are built around the reserve itself. Guided hikes with naturalists, horse care and riding at the equestrian club, bird sanctuary walks, kayaking in the Golfo Dulce. The concept is not retreat from the world so much as immersion in a different, slower, more biological one. No app can identify what you’re hearing from your deck at dawn.
